We are currently looking for EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR OR ASSISTANT for available positions within our programs. Immediate Opening:

We are seeking a warm motivated and flexible Early Childhood Educator/Assistant to start immediately in our Kamloops Montessori Preschool campus located at 920 Greystone Crescent. This is a full time permanent position, Monday to Friday, (40 hours per week) in our full day program. The wage will be $21/hour for certified Montessori teachers.

Candidates should possess one year of experience in an Early Childhood Montessori setting, excellent communication (both oral and written) skills, organizational skills, good classroom management and planning skills and can work in a collaborative environment.

The candidate must be passionate about providing excellence within their Montessori Classroom, must show knowledge of the Montessori preschool curriculum and an understanding to apply it following the sensitive periods of the children. Montessori certification preferred although arranges for training could be made for outstanding candidates. Benefits and paid school year breaks are available.

Main duties:
- Carry out the Montessori program that promotes the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
- Prepare and present engaging Montessori lessons, following the child’s natural tendencies and interests
- Present Montessori materials with enthusiasm and energy so the children become increasingly interested in them.
- Strive toward an uninterrupted work cycle in the morning.
- Make materials that are required to present Montessori lessons.
- Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts.
- Display Montessori materials on shelves in an organized manner by each section of the curriculum: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language and the Cultural Subjects
- Provide an organized structure so that the students feel responsible to maintain the aesthetics of the classroom, such as straightening and dusting shelves, sweeping, washing tables, tidying up cloak area, etc.
- Supervise assistants in the preparation of snacks and arranging furniture for lunch and rest periods.
- Submit written observations on children to Supervisors.
- Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and improvement opportunities of children.
- Maintain a record that reflects each child's progress.
