Location
Bancroft is located in Montreal’s Plateau Mont-Royal district, on Saint-Urbain between Villeneuve and Mont-Royal, and is accessible by the #55 bus.
Philosophy
Bancroft aims to provide a non-competitive environment that encourages creative thinking and cooperative learning. The school also encourages self-esteem, respect for others and a sense of pride in our multicultural community.
Distinctive Programs
Bancroft is a bilingual school offering excellent French, Mathematics and English Language Arts programs. Bancroft’s academic focus is on mastering literacy and numeracy skills to prepare the students for the challenges of the future. The school traditionally produces a full-scale musical involving
all cycles. This annual show, which receives help from the community, is well attended and is one of the most popular events of our school year. Bancroft has a unique variety of extracurricular activities organized by teachers, parents and the school’s resource staff. Students are encouraged to participate in activities during lunch break such as: Mad Science, Soccer and dodge ball. Parents supervise other activities such as: reading in the li- brary, society games, scientific experiments and caricature drawing. Bancroft students also profit from extracurricular sports activities, a YMCA program and many
cultural and sport excursions an excursion to the Laurentians at the end of the year. Every year Bancroft School celebrates many multicultural activities, such as Chinese New Year, Festival of lights and Hanukah, as well as many special activities and projects organized by the teachers, students and parents.
Parental Participation
In addition to their part in lunchtime activities, parents organize bake sales, a fundraiser Walkathon and many activities for the students. Bancroft shares its premises with MIND High School.
