Laurier Macdonald is located on the corner of Jean Talon and Viau in St. Leonard. It is accessible by bus #132 from the Viau Metro and buses #141 and #188 from the Saint-Michel Metro.
Philosophy/Objectives
Laurier Macdonald is a senior high school (Secondary III to V) committed to academic excellence. The talents and strengths of each student are developed in a supportive environment, in which students are taught respect for individual differences and for the rights of others.
The school gives students the opportunity to develop a broad range of knowledge and skills in basic subject areas as well as in communications, technology, logical thinking, and problem solving. Laurier Macdonald prepares students to become productive/ responsible citizens. Values such as honesty, respect, fairness and loyalty are promoted among fellow students.
Laurier Macdonald has a “standardized uniform” provided by a designated supplier where it must be purchased.
Programs
- Special education at Secondary III, IV and V levels.
- Inclusive setting for a Media Education Department with television and photography studios. In addition to a media newsletter, productions from this department have been: Rainbow of Dreams, Once Upon a Journey, Whispering Dreams, Living Heritage, Faded Memories, 9/11 One Year later, CFCF TV 101 (news reports), Ripples in Time (book and docu-drama), Class Dismissed (movie) and Boxes Re-Opened, Stories Re-Told.
- The International Baccalaureate MYP Program. Students in this program are exposed to a broad philosophy in the five areas of interaction. Students in this program benefit from being part of a worldwide organization involving over 140 countries and millions of students.
