The Summer Program Early Childhood Educator, with the teachers and staff working in the summer, will plan, organize and implement an educational childcare program with outings, activities and experiences that target 3-12 year olds. The focus of the program is supporting children develop environmental literacy and connection with nature, as well as providing children with daily outdoor exploration and physical activity, including participating in cycling and bussing field trips.

Tasks include:
Preparing a database of environmentally focused learning activities that are experiential in nature and attractive to young children.
Preparing for projects in the community including small-scale environmental protection projects that can be accomplished by young children and their supervisors.
Reviewing the legal requirements, health and safety guidelines and best practices for early childcare programs.
Familiarizing self and others with all items in the school's Health and Safety Checklist and ensuring that all health and safety guidelines are met for childcare programs.
Planning and implementing quality childcare programs which meet learning objectives defined by a team of educators.
Creating weekly and daily routines that allow for successful educational opportunities to be provided in the context of a childcare program.
Planning and implementing field trips, weekly walking wilderness skills sessions and other outdoor experiences for children. This may include providing training to children in cycling, hiking and other outdoor pursuits.
Leading a team of educators to enable them to provide a quality childcare program in accordance with the best practices outlined by the local Health Authority.
Managing advertising, communication with parents, and registration.
