Job Description:
• Develop and implement childcare programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
• Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest, provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity; offer age appropriate activities
• Teach Montessori class, leading circle time
• Bring children for outside play
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
• Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
• Knowledge of Day Nurseries Act
• Knowledge of licensing regulations
• Establish guidelines for behavior
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
• Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and wellbeing of children
• Bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers
• Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
• Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
• Arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
• Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
• Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
• Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers
• Order supplies and equipment
• Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
• Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
• Supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
• Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
• Plan and organize activities for school-age children in childcare programs before and after regular school hours

Requirements:
-Education: A bachelor's degree or college diploma in early childhood education is required
-Experience:  Experience is an asset
-Valid ECE license is required
-First Aid Certificate is an asset
-Infant/Toddler CPR Certificate is an asset
-Criminal record check is an asset

Salary: $15.00 to $17.00 hourly – 40 hours per week

Important Information:
Flexibility on schedule is required. Shifts: 8:15am to 4:45pm from Monday to Friday.
