Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent (40 hours a week)

Cornerstone Montessori Academy in Surrey, British Columbia is looking to hire one full-time permanent Early Childhood Educator (NOC 4214) for our preschool located at 8383 140th Street, Surrey, BC, Canada, V3W 5K9.

We need an Early Childhood Educator that has strong teaching and childcare skills and is dedicated to providing an excellent and safe learning environment for all children. Please review job duties, qualifications and skills below.

Main Job Duties:

• Implement Cornerstone and Montessori philosophies that encourage and empower children to move beyond the standard measures of academic success by channeling their powers of curiosity, imagination, creativity and self-discovery through activities. 
• Develop and implement daily activities that support and promote the development of children such as incorporating hands-on activities, inviting guest speakers, arranging educational field trips and encouraging children to “think outside the box”.
• Consistently plan activities that instil a strong held set of values within each child, including such virtues as honesty, integrity, responsibility, empathy and kindness.
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
• Observe children for signs of learning disabilities or emotional problems and take appropriate action. Assess the skills, abilities, interests and needs of children.
• Discuss progress or problems of children with parents and other staff members.
• Attend meetings and workshops to develop and discuss new teaching methods, Cornerstone and Montessori philosophies.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Successful completion of an Early Childhood Education program.
• Valid British Columbia Early Childhood Educator Certificate.
• 1-2 years’ experience as an early childhood educator or assistant or other related field.
