Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is looking for an Early Childhood Educator to collaborate closely with all other members of the Families First program team to provide nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education
• Early Childhood Education Basic and Post Basic Education; or post graduate courses related to child development and special needs
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children
• Basic First Aid Level One

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of First nations cultural and traditions (specifically Carrier and Sekani)
• Familiar with Provincial Child Care Regulations
• Knowledge of contemporary & traditional meal planning and preparation
• Possess sound developmental assessment skills and well versed in intervention techniques
• Computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Maintain confidentiality concerning employee files
• Ability to work independently and within a team setting
• Ability to prioritize, manage time and organize
• Ability to show patience

WORKING/SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• May be required to lift and carry children and equipment
• Exposure to children who are ill and/or contagious; must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, staff and themselves
• Will be working in a busy and noisy environment. There will be a number of activities and situations happening at once
• Manage a number of requests and tasks at one time and must be prepared to deal with emergencies and stressful situations at any time
• Initial and on-going employment is subject to submission of a clear Criminal Record check. Criminal Record Check must be conducted every three years. CSFS reimburses this expense
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with access to a safe and reliable vehicle insured for business use.
• Participate in professional development as necessary
