Location
Coronation is located across the street from the Plamondon Metro, at the corner of Van Horne and Victoria. It can also be reached via the #160 bus.

Mission Statement
Coronation Elementary School is a community of diverse peoples and cultures. Our family of parents, community and staff is committed to the personal, academic and spiritual growth of each individual. Our mission is that our students become confident lifelong learners and responsible citizens.

Guiding Principles
The Coronation atmosphere is based on trust, respect and security. The Coronation Family shares the responsibility for the education of our children. Teaching must be adapted to meet individual needs, fostering a successful learning experience and inspiring lifelong learning while cultivating the talent
and skills of all students.

Programs
Coronation offers the Core English Program, as well as French Immersion. There is an extended Pre-Kindergarten program for parents who want their child to stay for the entire day. Students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6 have free swimming lessons at the Côte des Neiges Sports Complex as part of their physical education program. Day Care services are offered before school, during the lunch hour and after school. The school offers instruction in Catholic, Protestant and Moral Instruction with the help of a Spiritual Animator. Coronation is a Lead School for the implementation of the Curriculum Reform in Quebec. Teacher teams prepare lessons that take into account the diversity, interests and abilities of our students. Collaboration with McGill University, Concordia University and UQAM enrich our students as they work on projects with students from these Universities while a partnership with the Northshield Financial Foundation allows our school to be on the cutting edge of technology. The goal over the next five years is a ratio of one computer for every five students. Lunchtime classes are offered in the language of Tamil. 

Events and Activities
Extra funding from the government allows our students to participate in many extra curricular activities, field trips, student-exchange programs and an eleventh month of school in July. Many school-wide projects such as our annual live Radio Show showcase the talents of our students in our community. There is a junior and senior Steelpan Band for students in Cycle II and Cycle III. The students in Cycle II and III enjoy a chess club offered by an outside organization of Master chess players during the lunch hour. Concerts are offered to parents each year where songs, dances and plays are performed.

Parental Participation
Parents are involved in the school’s Governing Board, volunteering in the library, at the swimming pool, on field trips and in organizing special events. A committee of parents and staff are working to organize workshops of interest to parents.
