MIND High School
Location
MIND High School is located at the foot of Mount Royal, within the Bancroft School facility. It is easily accessible by buses #11 and #97 from the Mount Royal Metro, and by bus #55 from the Saint-Laurent or De Castelnau Metro.
Philosophy/Objectives
MIND (Moving In New Directions) was established in 1975. It offers an alternative environment for students in Secondary III through V. It is a small, safe community environment for CEGEP-bound students who need a more intimate setting in which to complete their secondary studies. In the last year, MIND has forged a partnership with McGill University’s Faculty of Education, which allows for free exchange of ideas and use of facilities.

In addition to fulfilling the curriculum requirements of the Ministry of Education, Leisure and Sports, MIND also offers several electives at the Grade 11 level. The school day lasts from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Extracurricular Activities
At MIND they vary each year. Some examples include:
- Student publications, art shows and media productions.
- Working with the elementary school students (Breakfast Club and tutoring).
- Outdoor school activities and trips.
- Coffee House (talent shows).
Parental Involvement
An active Volunteer Parents’ Committee participates in many of the school’s events. MIND holds regular Community Council meetings and believes teacher-parent communication is paramount to student education.
